Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode Nine, "When Betty Met YETI"

There were so many great and touching moments on this week's Ugly Betty, I can't wait to talk about them all. But there are also some good laughs. I mean, I know that Hilda isn't a huge part of the episode, but her anecdote about using every advantage — which includes her referring to her boobs as "the Pointer Sisters" — may have endeared me to this woman forever more.

I keep re-watching that clip and hysterically laughing ("When I have to go to the butcher shop, I put on my tightest tank top — and thank you to the Pointer Sisters right here, Abunjio, the meat man, he puts me in the front of the line. Is that fair? No. So what? Who cares. I don't care."). It's so good. Anyhoo, there are plenty of other funny and sweet moments to chat about, so

On this week's Ugly Betty, the senior management at Mode is whisked away into the country for a team-building retreat led by Daniel and Connor. This is a brilliant move, as it makes possible all kinds of good stuff, including a plethora of hunting and forest jokes and some amazing costumes that are supposed to denote a casual time in the woods (see Claire's get-up below).

And while the adults are away, the young assistants at Mode do play. However, things go awry rather quickly. Before we know it, Marc, Betty, and Amanda are on a road trip to the country to help save their bosses, which is, as one would expect, pretty hilarious. To see the rest of my thoughts, just

We've witnessed Betty Suarez the heartbreaker for some time now (turning down engagements, letting Gio slip away in favor of some alone time) but on this week's Ugly Betty we see Betty Suarez with a major crush on a boy. It's cute to see her swoon and make not-so subtle attempts to show the object of her affection how she feels.

Betty isn't the only one crushing. Love is in the air for several Mode employees, including Marc and — most unexpectedly — Wilhelmina. Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode Six, "Ugly Berry"

Last week, Betty let her good and decent self help out an old enemy in need by showing her the ropes at Mode. In doing so, she made a monster out of Kimmie, who nabbed a promotion and declared ominously that she felt like her old self again.

So when Ugly Betty opens this week, Kimmie is empowered and all the rage in the office. She rubs Betty's nose in her success, which makes Betty morph into a green-eyed monster ("She brings out this side of me where I want to scratch her eyes out"). Betty's biggest complaint to Daniel is that Kimmie refuses to play by the rules — but she soon learns that working with people you dislike is par for the course in grown-up world. That, though, is a world in which Marc and Amanda do not live, and they decide Kimmie must go, which means luring Betty over to the dark side and joining forces against a common enemy. After Katie Holmes on Eli Stone and Nicole Richie on Chuck, tonight concludes our TV cameo trifecta when Lindsay Lohan returns to Ugly Betty.

We've seen plenty of Lohan's character, Kimmie, up till now, both as the burger boss and in flashbacks as Betty's high-school nemesis. But she's never ventured into Betty's professional world . . . until now. In this episode, Kimmie turns up in the Mode office, asking for Betty's help as she tries to move on from her deep-frying duties. From the looks of things, though, Kimmie isn't exactly destined for success as an executive assistant — though the clip of her having an espresso machine disaster, jamming paper in the printer, and trying (and failing) to pronounce "Wilhelmina" is pretty great.

OK, I am such a sucker for Ugly Betty, and I totally cried at the end of this week's episode. I blame a couple of things: First of all, anything related to bad things happening to Hilda breaks my heart, and of course a Suarez family hug will get the tears flowing. And Claire Meade protecting her children and Daniel and Alexis having a "moment" on a tarmac is exactly the kind of thing to finish me off.

This week's eventful Ugly Betty takes on a "whodunnit?" mystery tone in the funny, melodramatic way that only this show can pull off. Last week, Daniel returned to Mode as editor-in-chief, but before any celebrating could occur, someone shoved Christina down the stairs. At the start of this episode, Betty is under the white-hot light of police interrogation, and as the story unfolds, practically everyone becomes a suspect.

Unfortunately for Daniel, too much of the evidence starts to point in his direction, forcing the sexy detective (Mark Consuelos) to haul him off to jail. Ugly Betty had barely finished its move to New York when the cast was called back to LA for this Summer's TCA press tour. Luckily, Michael Urie, who plays the delightful and scheming Marc, was able to make the trip. At an ABC party, I pulled him aside to get some quick insights into Betty's third season, which airs its second episode tonight. Here are highlights:

How do you get along so well with Becki Newton? Did you know each other before?
We'd never met before. We must have known each other in another life — we just connected immediately.

The No. 1 thing I always hear about the show is, "I want more Marc and Amanda." So, are we going to get more Marc and Amanda?
There's a lot of Marc and Amanda. I don't think they'll go an episode without us being together anymore. That was hard — we had to go like three or four apart, and it was not easy.

Other than Amanda, do you have a favorite character to play off?
Other than Wilhelmina and Amanda and Betty, I love working with Christina. That's a great dichotomy, too. You can't put two characters on that show together and something interesting doesn't happen.

The return of Ugly Betty was one of the few season premieres last night that didn't have any extra time tacked on. But I was totally fine with that, because the Betty folks managed to deliver a fun first episode of their new season even without bonus minutes. The last time we saw Betty, she had a big choice to make: forever with Henry or a romantic trip abroad with Gio. I think the choice revealed last night was somewhat predictable, but it still had a pretty hilarious twist. We'll chat about that in a sec.

Meanwhile, a lot has changed now that Wilhelmina is back in charge, including a darker, more sinister-feeling Mode headquarters, complete with the temperature turned to freezing — the perfect lair for an evil ice queen. Friday Funnies: Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and More

Nothing gets me laughing like some good blooper reels from my favorite TV shows. Grey's Anatomy, in particular, has delivered some pretty good blooper reels in the past, and I always look forward to when the next season's will make its way to YouTube.

This year, ABC put out teasers of the blooper reels for a bunch of its shows, including Grey's, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, and Private Practice. The whole reels are on the DVD sets for the shows, but this is a pretty good taste of all the funny on-set moments that viewers don't get to see. What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to my selections below, you can also check out Jackie Chan and Jet Li in The Forbidden Kingdom and Lee Pace in The Fall.

Baby Mama
Hurray for Baby Mama out on DVD! I really enjoyed this good-natured, fun ride when I saw it in theaters and I'm so eager to go back for more now that I can add it to my Netflix queue. The movie stars Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as total opposites who band together in order to make a baby. Basically, Fey's character is a successful woman who wants to have a baby, and Poehler is her wrong-side-of-the-tracks surrogate. Together they make a hilarious comedic team, and while the movie has its faults, it's mostly an all-around good time.

I would love to spend some behind-the-scenes time with Poehler and Fey, and thankfully the special features give me that chance! They include deleted scenes, an alternate ending, and featurettes including "From Conception to Delivery: The Making of Baby Mama" and "Saturday Night Live: Legacy of Laughter" in which Tina Fey and Amy Poehler talk about working with other SNL alums.

Buzz Interview: Freddy Rodriguez at the Premiere of Bottle Shock

When I traveled to Napa to attend the premiere of Bottle Shock, one of the stars I was most excited to speak with was ~~Gio!~~ Freddy Rodriguez. I've always admired his work on shows like Six Feet Under and of course Ugly Betty, and I'm excited to see that he'll still take part in an independent movie now and again.

His character in the movie, Gustavo Brambila, is a person in real life, and Rodriguez appeared to have a good relationship with him at the premiere. Gustavo is supposed to have an incredible palate and winemaking abilities, and though he's portrayed as an intense dude in the movie, Rodriguez told me he's actually very shy in person.

Five Questions for Ugly Betty

The onset of Summer also means the return of my Five Questions series, in which I take a look back at the most recent seasons of some favorite TV shows and pose some hypothetical questions about their future. Today's questions are for Ugly Betty, which will start its third season in the Fall.

Is it time for a new focus other than Betty's love life? In the season finale, Betty was left choosing between a trip abroad with Gio and a lifetime with Henry in Tucson. I think it's fairly obvious that instead of choosing either guy, she's going to choose herself. But with the recent casting news that Betty might get yet another love interest added to the mix, I'm worried that a love triangle-turned-square will be too much. I'm secretly hoping that Betty just chooses Gio and then we get to move on. Betty's too smart for this constant tug of war between guys. Even more intriguing is the fact that the actor who plays Henry, Christopher Gorham, just signed on to star on a new CBS drama this Fall.
Will shooting in New York City give the show a new look and feel? It's always struck me as funny that Ugly Betty takes place within the high fashion industry in New York when the set design screams L.A. I've never quite gotten a Devil Wears Prada vibe from the show. I'm curious if shooting on the streets of New York will give Betty a new edge that might inject some energy into its third season. Or perhaps we won't even be able to tell, given that the move was primarily intended to save money.

Ugly Betty Attracts Yet Another Love Interest

Is Ugly Betty's love triangle about to become a love . . . square?

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Val Emmich is joining the show as Jesse, yet another potential beau for America Ferrera's Betty. Which is interesting, considering that the last time we saw Betty, she was pondering Henry in Tucson vs. Gio in Rome, and that already seemed like overload for the poor girl's budding romantic skills.

Sadly, there's nothing in the story about how Jesse will enter the show or come to meet Betty, so I guess we'll just have to stay tuned for that one. But I am happy to see Emmich again — he had a memorable guest-starring role as the man who got Liz Lemon branded a cougar on 30 Rock, and any guy who can charm Tina Fey is good enough for me.

Do you think one more boy is just too much for Betty? Or will it be nice to have something just to mix up the Henry vs. Gio debate?

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 18, "Jump"

The title of the Ugly Betty finale is also the title of one of my favorite Madonna songs (not on her new album, FYI), and it was used to close the episode. It's a fitting tune for this episode, since a lot of the characters were forced to take a proverbial leap of some sort last night — especially Betty.

If the Gossip Girl finale revealed too much, Ugly Betty left us with a considerable cliffhanger which actually surprised me! Overall I thought the show was really cute, as usual, and I'm sad to see it go. To check out the rest of my thoughts on last night,

Tonight on ABC: Goodbye (For Now) to Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty

Friends, the time has come. Just when it felt like we got our Thursday night television back after the strike, it's ending again with tonight's season finales of both Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty.

In the case of Grey's, I'm kinda glad to see this season put out of its misery. The show tends to have really great runs of interesting story lines, but something tells me the writers' strike had a major impact (understandably) on the show getting its mojo back. I've said before that I just don't care about Derek's relationship with Rose because she's just . . . annoying. Hopefully tonight's episode will finally deliver and leave us wanting more.

Ugly Betty, on the other hand, did not skip a beat upon returning, and the show just gets better and better with each episode. Of course, the Gio-Betty-Henry love triangle is compelling. Not to mention the fact that Wilhelmina and Marc are back — along with Amanda — which adds up to a lot of laughs. Call me a sap, but I think the show continues to do a great job of unleashing outlandish plot lines and then reeling itself back in for some genuinely touching moments.

Tonight is a biggie as it looks like Henry returns with a big question to ask Betty, plus there are guest stars galore including Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell. I'm very excited — nay, giddy! — for this one.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 17, "The Kids Are Alright"

Look out, world (or just Mode) — Wilhelmina is back! Her Evilness and Marc made a triumphant return to power on this week's Ugly Betty after the revelation that she is the mother of an unborn Meade family heir. Again, this entire plot line is so hilariously far-fetched (and just not logical!) that it's always funny to me when they try to explain it to us.

In other news, Betty awakes to the lonely person ballad "All By Myself" as she tries to get over Henry (who we learn is back in Tucson) but she finds herself drawn to Gio and his sandwich shop. She also — surprise! — deals with her pain by immersing herself in work.

Here are some more thoughts:

I know I have a tendency to gush over Marc and Amanda but there was just so few of them when the season started up again. And come on, how great were they last night together? Their little BFF moments are so tender, yet they are both superficial and mean — it's a mix I can't get enough of!
Hilda's break-up advice to Betty was perfect: "When I break up with a guy I like to get a little scary so he never forgets me."
Best descriptions of Wilhelmina first came from Marc: "You are a horror movie I wish would never end." And then Daniel: "She is one third of this company and she has the Devil on her side!"

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 16, "Betty's Baby Bump"

Thanks to the power of wishful thinking, we all got a little bit more of what we wanted last night on Ugly Betty: Amanda and Marc. Both of them had about a gazillion one-liners and fun moments, making the episode all the more enjoyable.

When I asked yesterday which guy Betty should be with (Gio, Henry, or neither), Gio won by a landslide — and I was feeling that way, too. But! Last night was all about Henry, and even though the episode ended with some hints that he and Betty are headed for Splitsville, I was reminded of the chemistry they share. Also, who was salivating for some Ignacio Suarez cooking by the end? Must . . . eat . . . tamales . . .

Here are some more of my thoughts:

The show opened with Betty and Henry sharing a romantic dinner to a New Kids on the Block slow jam, "I'll be Loving You Forever" — loved it.
And of course Charlie interrupted them, saying she was tired and noting, "Well, my arms are so bloated from caring your child, so . . . " So evil.
Marc's tie-on-bare-neck look last night (pictured above) was so funny to me. I kept thinking, "But you're wearing a shirt that the tie could go over!" I love that he and Wilhelmina are planning a big media roll-out of their Meade baby that includes a stop on The View, which they never could have done if "potty mouth Rosie was still around."

Should Betty Date Gio or Henry?

As some of you know, I've been a little bit irked by the Gio-Betty-Henry love triangle that's heating up now that Ugly Betty is back with new episodes. Well, to be fair, I'm not entirely sure how "hot" it's gotten, considering Gio has yet to proclaim his love to Betty and Henry is fairly spineless and challenged in the heat-generating department. However, Gio obviously has feelings for Betty because he does such thoughtful things (like when he salvaged her entire birthday). And Henry clearly loves her but is leaving with his baby mama just as soon as the kid comes (at least that's the plan for now) — so what exactly is the point of their continued romance? californiagirlx7 suggested I ask which guy should be Betty's beau, so before we watch tonight's episode, tell me: Is Henry or Gio the right pick for Betty?Photos copyright 2008 ABC, Inc.

Oxygen's Talk Sex with Sue is ending this week, but its sassy 77-year-old host promises she'll keep giving lectures, the Associated Press reports.
AMC has renewed Breaking Bad for a 13-episode second season, writes the Hollywood Reporter.

It's Official: Lindsay Lohan's Getting Ugly

We've been hearing rumors about this for a while — even before the writers' strike — but now it's official: Lindsay Lohan has nabbed a recurring role on Ugly Betty.

She reported for her first day of work on Saturday and will make her debut in the show's season finale on May 22. But that's not all: Lohan will also appear in five episodes next Fall.

Lohan's character — whose name hasn't been revealed yet — was an old classmate of Betty's, a total mean girl (Lohan knows a little something about that). But, according to Variety, when the two meet again, it's Lohan who's down on her luck . . . and perhaps even a little jealous of Betty's burgeoning Mode career. One rumor even indicates that her character would be "a hapless fast food worker" — so if you've always dreamed of hearing Lohan say "would you like fries with that," well, this might just be your chance.

Betty fans, do you think this is a good move for the show? Could you see Lohan making herself at home in the soapy, over-the-top atmosphere? Could this be just the thing to help the show's sagging ratings? Or is it all one big misguided stunt?

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 15, "Burning Questions"

Last week they laid the groundwork to facilitate a psychotic meltdown for Renee on Ugly Betty, and this week the show really delivered. But by the end, I just felt sorry for the poor girl (and thought she looked really smoking hot in her lavender dress). Meanwhile, the Henry-Betty-Gio triangle came to a bit of a head via a physical confrontation with the boys and a near-death experience for Betty — but ugh, I think she's leaning toward Henry again. He's so weak-kneed about this whole pregnancy thing and he's leaving, so I'm at a total loss as to why we should want to see him and Betty together.

The best part about last night? As expected, Christian Siriano. His moment was brief, but it was hilarious how well he fit in on a campy, over-the-top comedy about fashion. Here are more of my thoughts:

I now know that I view Daniel through Betty's eyes. He's far more older brother to me rather than crush material which is why I, like Betty, made an "ew ew!" sound when he was talking panties with Renee.
Funny moment with Hilda when she tried to get Betty to open up to her about boy trouble. "Tell Mama Hilda everything." I want my own Mama Hilda so bad!

TV Tonight: Guest Stars Galore on ABC

ABC brought back its Thursday lineup a week ago, but it's tonight that two of the network's shows — Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy — are really making their presence felt. Both have great guest stars lined up to build some momentum as we roll toward the all-too-soon season finales.

First up, Ugly Betty hosts Project Runway's famously faux-hawked, famously satired fourth-season winner, Christian Siriano. The designer appears as himself, a hot new designer whom the Mode staff is trying to woo for a fashion spread — complete with designs that ProjRun fans will likely recognize from his collection. Runway judge Nina Garcia will appear as well.

But the one I'm really excited for is the return of Kate Walsh as Addison on Grey's. I thought Addie lost most of her sparkle, charm, and cojones when she moved down the West Coast to that Private Practice of hers, and I hope that her return to Seattle Grace puts her kickass side back in the spotlight. (Hey, maybe the writers will remember how to do that, and then apply it to PP when it returns in the Fall.) Oh yeah, and Elizabeth Reaser (Rebecca/Jane Doe/Ava) is back to deliver some news to Alex — but I'm too fixated on what fun Addison antics will ensue to give that much thought.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 14, "Twenty-Four Candles"

It may come last in my list of rundowns today, but Ugly Betty came first in my marathon of TV viewing list on Thursday. What better way to kick off the evening than with that eternally upbeat go-getter Betty Suárez? Hopefully you were able to refresh your Betty memory before last night. It was pretty easy to pick up from where the show left off, and I thought the opening dream sequence (something in the writers' water? Gossip Girl opened the same way this week) was adorable and fun. Here are my thoughts:

Amanda didn't have a lot going on this episode, but she was still funny reveling in her Gene-Simmons'-daughter-dom by hilariously dressing like a rabid Kiss fan, wagging her tongue, and uttering little "hardcore" lines like this one to Gio when he asked if she gave Betty a message: "I’m a receiver, not a giver."
Back to Betty's birthday dream: For some reason, when Henry showed up with a horse carriage and Betty asked him where they were, his answer made me laugh and reminded me of something people said in my dreams when I was 12 years old: "We're in the best place ever!"

Catch Up on Ugly Betty — In Video and Song

Ugly Betty returns next Thursday, and while I love the show, I caught myself wondering the other day what exactly did happen in the final few Betty episodes before the strike sent the series off to hiatus. Of course, reading my own recaps could help, but ABC has a couple of other ideas in mind for those who need to catch up.

I'm a big fan of the Ugly Betty podcast hosted by Becki Newton and Michael Urie, and to welcome the show back, they've taken things to the next level: a video podcast filmed partially at the studio of the show's composer. The two only add more fuel to the musical episode fire by creating a wild show tune, including shots of the cast hanging out on set and flashbacks to the most recent developments. Idle Speculation: What's Up With Grey's, Gossip Girl, Lost, and More

This is maybe the toughest part of this whole writers' strike-afflicted TV season for me: A bunch of shows are coming back, they're coming soon, and yet it's still several days (or, in some cases, a couple of weeks) before I actually get to watch. Luckily, the network press sites have been loading up with photos from the new episodes, so there's plenty of fodder for idle speculation — as you can see if you take a spin through this slideshow. If you're very spoiler-phobic, beware (though really, these are more like teasers than spoilers, since I'm mostly just guessing). But if you're willing to join me in checking out the photos and trying to figure out the plotlines (plus check out some official episode descriptions), just hit "Start."

ABC Plans to Keep Both Lost and Grey's on Thursdays

Does ABC's regular Thursday lineup need some cheering up? Pretty soon, the night won't just be Ugly and Grey — it'll be Lost, too.

That's right: According to TV Guide, Lost, which has been airing in the normal Grey's Anatomy time slot, will move to the 10 p.m. slot after Grey's starting whenever both shows have new episodes to air — probably sometime in late April. Ugly Betty will reclaim its 8 p.m. slot when its new episodes are done.

On the one hand, that's great news for someone like me who's a fan of all three shows, and it's nice that ABC's putting something good in the post-Grey's slot again. On the other hand . . . dang, that's a lot of TV for one night. Besides, I'm really enjoying having Lost on at an earlier time. Call me an old woman, but I like my sleep, and Lost is the kind of show I could stay up dissecting way past my bedtime.

What do you make of the news? Are you happy to have these three heavy-hitters all in one night? Or is it just too much to take?

More Buzzworthy Valentines: McSteamy Greetings from ABC

In case the Law & Order: SVU valentines I told you about aren't your style, there's a new entry in the pop-culture Valentine's Day market. ABC just put out some funny e-mail valentines that let Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and Lost do the romancing.

Seriously, "You're not like the others"? How great is that?

The Ugly Betty ones are a little disappointing (other than the one with a drawing of Henry Grubstick's melting heart — that one's pretty genius), but the Lost batch makes up for it, with Sayid's "Life without you is torture" and Desmond's "I see love in your future" among the best. The Grey's ones aren't bad, either — I love that the heart on Cristina's is stitched up with little cartoon sutures. But man, that Ben valentine is just going to make me giggle all day.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 13, "A Thousand Words By Friday"

As we say goodbye to Ugly Betty until the writers' strike is negotiated and over (hopefully soon!), I can't help but wonder why it is that the character of Betty herself has bugged me so much this season. Is she actually different, more self-righteous, less fun than season one? Or is it all in my head? I suppose I've got some time to reflect on that now. Last night's episode, which was the final one we'll have for a while, had some classic moments (hellooooo anytime Amanda sings) and some frustrating ones, but I had to love that the whole thing was basically a spoof of Neil Strauss' pick-up guide, The Game. Heard of it? It spawned that VH1 show, The Pick-Up Artist, and, apparently, this episode of Betty. Here are my thoughts:

Amanda should sing every episode, even just a little something. Her brainstorming session with Marc trying to come up with the ditty she would sing to capture Gene Simmons' attention was so fun and hilarious, not to mention her final product. It made me love Becki Newton even more than I already do.
Best interaction of the episode, between Wilhelmina and Christina: "Are you trying to hug me?" "I'm as surprised as you are . . . Thank god that passed."

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 12, "Odor in the Court"

The best part of this week's new episode of Ugly Betty — you know, other than the fact that there was a new episode at all (and one more next week) — was all the Amanda. She's spectacular when she's evil and she's awesome when she momentarily has a conscience. I heart her the most. Betty was annoying, but I'll give her a bye this week since that was pretty much the plot of the episode. My thoughts:

This week Henry shipped off to Tucson for his baby's sonogram, leaving Betty pretending not to be nervous about it. Who was there to step right in to fill the void? Why Gio, of course, and his delicious sandwiches. They taste like purple.
Best Marc line of the episode, when Willi was trying to convince Christina to carry her mysterious baby by talking about her hostile womb: "It's tragic. Bono and Sheryl
Crow should do a benefit for her lady parts." Sometimes I forget that Wilhelmina is a mom in the first place.
And can I just say phew that the Fey Sommers murder mystery is finally solved? Phew.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 11, "Zero Worship"

After a little more than a month off, Ugly Betty was back last night with an extra sugar-coated dose of sweetness. The actual Betty plotline was a bit too smarmy for my taste, but at least Marc and Amanda were there to balance it out. Plus, it looks like Christina is about to come to the forefront of one of the most important story lines of the season. Lucky for us, this is one of the few shows with a couple more episodes left before the involuntary writers' strike hiatus. So let's get to chatting about the episode:

Amanda's search for her father amongst a wall of famous faces continues on, but this time Marc was there to help . . . with a crazy psychic lady who mostly talked nonsense. Of course, Amanda found a way to make her prophecy come true, even if it involved Lil Bow Wow.
Speaking of which, most random cameo ever? And he was kind of in love with Betty? Um, okay!

The Best TV Love Triangle of 2007: Blair, Nate, and Chuck, Gossip Girl

The ongoing saga of Blair, Chuck, and Nate on Gossip Girl netted them the win in this category — but not without some surprisingly strong competition from the radically different (and goofier) love triangle of Angela, Dwight, and Andy on The Office. Ned, Olive, and Chuck of Pushing Daisies were a relatively strong third, with plenty of write-in votes going to the "love square" of Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Juliet on Lost.

After much debate, I had to go with the Dwight, Angela, and Andy triangle — if only because the moment with Andy singing an a capella "Take a Chance on Me" to Angela is one of my favorite scenes of the whole season. Seriously, if I watch it, I'll get a little weepy.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 10, "Bananas for Betty"

While I could spend more than a minute on how annoying it was that last night's episode of Ugly Betty was basically just an ad for 27 Dresses, I will restrain myself and focus on the story. There were three big plots in last night's episode and thankfully they were all pretty fun. Even (begrudgingly) Betty and Henry. Here are my thoughts:

Ah, of course Bradford Meade left a video saying which child he wanted to leave Meade publications to! I mean, it only makes sense considering he was about to get married and all. Uh, just go with it. But was he about to say "my daughter" or "my Daniel"? Apparently, there's only one way to answer that . . . paint ball.
Stop me if I'm wrong, but didn't Betty and Henry used to be all about the quirky outings? Museum of Transportation! And now they're homebodies with themed ice cream/movie nights? Though, for all you Henry swooners out there, how much were you loving all the topless action?

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 9, "Giving Up The Ghost"

I'm not exactly sure why there was a new episode of Ugly Betty on Thanksgiving night, but it happened and so here we are. I guess maybe they thought after last week's shocking death we just couldn't wait for two weeks to see what Wilhelmina was scheming. Overall, the episode was good, sweet, and marked the dawning of a new era at Mode. Here are my thoughts:

So I was totally wrong about what Willie was doing in the morgue at the end of last episode, but that mystery was totally not solved yet. What was she doing there?
I loved Marc trying to start whispers at Bradford's funeral. "What is she doing here? Who is she wearing? I can't believe she came!"
As usual Marc and Amanda were the best part, though what will happen now that they don't work together? Heartbreaking split!
Betty was still a little annoying, but thankfully less so than she has been for much of the season. There is never enough Christina

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 8, "I See Me, I.C.U."

This week's Ugly Betty was pretty touching, as they go, but it also had a few of my favorite one liners of the season. Plus, some of them were from Henry! He may turn me into a convert yet. "Where have you been all my life?" "Math Camp." Ah, awesome. Here are my thoughts:

After last week's dramatic cliffhanger, this episode started with a whimper. Bradford was already in the hospital, in a coma. Betty showed up at the hospital, but was quickly defeated when Daniel reiterated that he fired her so she went to clean out her desk.... really, already? Shouldn't she stay around just in case she could help him out in any way?
As Bradford was on his maybe death bed (with Alexis telling him to "go towards the light" and Daniel telling him to "stay away from the light") the attention obviously shifted to the will. What would a primetime soap death be without will drama?
"Why is it always sadder when tragedy strikes hot people?" I love Amanda.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 7, "Nice Day for a Posh Wedding"

Last night's Ugly Betty was a bit frustrating for me. I spent most of the episode literally yelling at Betty through my TV (I swear, she totally heard me), but it also had huge awww moments...and the funniest 20 seconds I've seen on TV in a while. The clip of that is after the jump (hint: it involved milkshakes). So Betty herself continues to bug me, but everyone else is great! Here are my thoughts:

There was so not enough Victoria Beckham considering how much she was hyped. That being said, why don't the Beckhams have an energy drink — it seems too fitting. "Beckhammmmm." Also, Posh would so actually wear her maid of honor dress out the night before the wedding if it was chic enough. Ha.
The Christina and her husband plot was sweet, and I'm glad we finally got to meet him. It was pretty heartbreaking, too. He's good Stuart, after all.

Sneak Peek: Victoria Beckham on Ugly Betty

Near the end of the last week's very musical Ugly Betty, Wilhelmina Slater was forced to call on a reserve Maid of Honor when her daughter Nico "got bit by her pet monkey and had to be put in quarantine." Or, you know, bailed because her mother is not just a Bridezilla, but a Lifezilla. The backup bridesmaid was none other than Victoria Beckham, who will be guest starring on this week's wedding mania episode. I've always been a fan of Posh's unexpectedly hilarious and warm sense of humor, so I'm sure she'll be a delight on the show. We got a first look at VB on UB a couple of weeks ago, but if you need more convincing, check out a preview after the jump. Bonus fun: It also stars Vera Wang. This episode (and sure-to-be disasterous wedding) is going to be major!

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 6, "Something Wicked This Way Comes"

If you even channel surfed through ABC this week, you were made aware that Ugly Betty was going to Broadway. Instead of just doing a musical episode, as Buzz pointed out they should totally get it over with and do, the show centered around Betty and Henry trying to go on a date to see Wicked, intertwining songs from the actual Broadway show into the episode.

It succeeded in making me want to go see Wicked, but unfortunately it didn't change my mind about Betty's plot being my least favorite part of this season. I'm not totally heartless — the end was touching and sweet, but I was sad some of the other stories were sidelined. TV Tonight: Ugly Betty Goes Broadway

Oh, would Ugly Betty just hurry up and do a musical episode, already? The cast and producers have been flirting with the idea for a long time, and the most blatant tease yet comes tonight, when Betty gets Wicked. Betty and Henry resolve to finally have that date to see Wicked on Broadway (in secret, of course, as nobody can know they're still into each other). Something tells me this underground rendezvous isn't going to stay hidden for long — especially given that promo clip that seems to show Betty and Henry dangling from some apparatus high above the stage. How much did I love this week's episode of Ugly Betty? So, so much! What can I say, give Mark a completely endearing romantic interest and I'm sold. The only person whose story is bugging me is Betty herself, but thankfully the rest of it totally makes up for her and Henry being blah. Also, it is just me or is Rebecca Romijn totally carrying this season? Love it. Here are my thoughts:

How is Daniel completely unable to realize what is going on with Mode? Is he more inept than ever? Shouldn't Betty be seeing right though Willie's plot for Meade Publication domination? Or is she keeping quiet because of their rooftop deal? How many episodes before all the truth is uncovered....November sweeps is right around the corner.
Hilda and her cemetery friends were sad/cute. While it's not the most uplifting crown to hang out with (you know, 5 PM bedtime and dentures), at least she can talk about Santos. Hot, hot Santos.

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 4, "Grin and Bear It"

Let's get right to it: last night's Ugly Betty was a blast! That was mostly thanks to Rebecca Romijn who killed it as Alexis figuring out how to put on make up/dress/act/go to the correct bathroom as a woman. I guess then maybe she was in character when she was walking into Letterman yesterday? Ha. On the other hand, Betty herself was disappointing. It was just hard to believe that she would ever, ever do something like that. Okay, no spoilers just yet. Here are my thoughts on the episode:

Back to Alexis for a second. I love that she thought that she had to use up all the make-up in the containers to get herself ready for the day...and that she didn't wear a bra. Great Amanda line: "Friends don't let friends wear glitter before noon." Such the thing a guy would do in that situation. She and Daniel are so cute as brother/sister these days.
Laugh out loud moment when Alexis has this recommendation for Mode cover girl: "She's big! She's sexy! She's outrageous! Anna Nicole Smith!" Insert awkward silence here.
I've been looking forward to James van der Beek's guest starring stint since I heard about it over the summer. I just wish there was going to be more of him. Bring back Dawson!
