• Sunday's Emmy awards drew the second-smallest audience ever, Variety reports. It drew just 13.1 million viewers, and only the 1990 telecast did worse.

• Thursday's premiere of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" got the show's best ratings ever, Zap2it reports.
• MTV Films will make a feature-length movie version of the YouTube creation Million Dollar Strong, writes Variety.
• "Psych" has been renewed for a third season, TV Guide reports.

Steve Carell went home empty-handed at the Emmys on Sunday, but before he left, he took part in two of the evening's funniest moments. First, he deadpanned his way through a video with "Office" castmates Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski dissing Carell as a movie star with a big ego. Then, he joined former "Daily Show" colleagues Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart on stage for an exuberant celebration when actual Outstanding Lead Comedy Actor winner Ricky Gervais wasn't there to accept his award.

I can't let the 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards go by without sharing a few of my thoughts on the broadcast itself. Here's some of what was going through my head as the show went on:

• Despite all my fears about Ryan Seacrest's hosting, I actually thought he did a pretty great job. His writers were on the ball, getting in a few zingers — "'Weeds': A great show.
