After
breaking Christmastime records last week, audiences once again put the adorably naughty pup in the top spot at the box office over the weekend.
Marley & Me, starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson,
earned an estimated $24 million "for a cume of $106.5 million in only 11 days."
In second place came Adam Sandler's
Bedtime Stories followed by
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in third,
Valkyrie in fourth and
Yes Man in fifth.

Oh, Marley, that insanely profitable little scamp! The cute dog movie had
the best Christmas Day opening ever and grossed a total of $51.7 million over the four-day weekend. According to Variety,
Marley & Me "played more to females, as well as to older moviegoers.

While there are a zillion World War II movies out there already, I kept an open mind going into the Tom Cruise star vehicle
Valkyrie. Sure, this is a movie that has been dogged by bad press from start to finish (even due, in part, to the fact that Cruise is a Scientologist) but I can see that there is a fascinating movie to be made out of a German resistance movement involving Nazi officers in Adolf Hitler's inner circle.
High-ranking, aristocratic officers attempting to assassinate Hitler?

Katie Holmes and Suri stopped by the Boucheron Bakery in NYC yesterday to pick up some celebratory goodies in honor of Katie turning 30. They coordinated their red shoes for the occasion, and Suri capped off
her well-dressed year with yet another adorable frock. Their mission for sweets was a girls-only affair, as Tom had to travel to LA for the West Coast premiere of
Valkyrie.

Tom Cruise made a rare solo red carpet appearance at the NY premiere of
Valkyrie last night but by the after party Katie was by his side in
purple eyeliner. It's been a quieter publicity whirlwind for Tom this time as he carefully treads the line of talking about his life but not causing any controversy. Yesterday he and Matt Lauer once again showed it's
all water under the bridge and Tom is quick to repeat that his fall from grace three years ago was more than he bargained for,
saying, "As I've said, I want an adventurous life.

Here's the trailer for Tom Cruise vehicle
Valkyrie, directed by Bryan Singer. There's no release date set for the UK yet, but I'd imagine we'll get it in here sometime after Christmas as the US release date is Boxing Day.
Though I'm confused by the Germans with American accents, the film is visually appealing and the trailer's upped my curiosity about it.

Oh, Bryan Singer's beleaguered
Valkyrie. From
multiple release date changes, to
trouble with Germany, to rumors of
doctoring historical photos, this movie has been plagued with setbacks and bad press for a long time. With equal parts curiosity and trepidation, I awaited a real trailer for the film, which is now opening Dec.
Valkyrie Will Open in 2008 After All
E! Online reports, "For the third time in less than a year, MGM has changed the release date of Cruise's beleaguered WWII-era flick, though this time making the would-be release earlier than expected. .
