I'm not sure how wise it really is to launch a new season of a TV show on Labor Day. Will people be at home on the couch, or will they biting into some corn on the cob at a barbecue somewhere? The CW and Fox are both hoping it'll be the couch, as both
Gossip Girl and
Prison Break return for new seasons tonight.

How do they keep doing it?
Prison Break is one of those shows that seemed to have a really solid premise for one season. Maybe two.

First
Private Practice, now this: The
Prison Break team is planning a
spinoff set in a women's prison. The show, Prison Break: Cherry Hill, would focus on a character named Molly who will be joining the regular Prison Break cast later this season. The rest of the info includes mild spoilers for upcoming episodes, but if you want to know more about the potential spinoff, just
Molly is an upper-middle-class wife with a lot in common with Michael: They've both suffered at the hands of the Company, they've both lost loved ones, and they both want the people responsible for their suffering to pay. Molly's introduction to Prison Break will come when she finds Michael and Lincoln at Sona.

So, that was some pretty shocking stuff on this week's
"Prison Break," right? Luckily, I've tracked down a couple of interviews that reveal the real story behind the twisted developments. They're all pretty spoiler-y, but if you're ready to talk about the episode, just
So Sara is really, absolutely, totally dead — and with her head chopped off and in a box, no less, despite previous assurances that
she would spend season three alive and well.
According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, who interviewed producer Matt Olmstead, what you saw last night
wasn't the original plan. The writers decided they needed to kill Sara at some point to keep Michael's story fresh in season three, but actress Sarah Wayne Callies and the show could never come to terms on a contract.

Fox is using Sunday's
Emmy awards to dive headfirst into the
Fall TV season. Technically, I suppose things kicked off with Friday's premiere of
"Nashville," but tonight the heat is really on with the start of the season's first new scripted drama and the return of a fan favorite.
"Prison Break" kicks things off at 8 p.m., and I know
a lot of Buzz readers are ready for it.
