Neil Patrick Harris handled his laptop with care as he made his way through security at LAX on Sunday. He was headed to New York, where he'll be rehearsing all week for his very first time hosting
Saturday Night Live. While we may have to wait for new episodes of
How I Met Your Mother, we already have a great feeling about NPH bringing big laughs as he helps
SNL kick off 2009 after a long hiatus.

With an all-star cast including Jack Black, Neil Patrick Harris, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolph, Rashida Jones, and Margaret Cho, "Prop 8 — The Musical" harmoniously chronicles how California came to pass its gay marriage ban.

Jack Black appears as Jesus Christ to point out that the Bible says a lot of interesting things, like you can stone your wife, or sell your daughter into slavery.

The end of the
Emmys means the true start of the TV season, as networks start rolling out new episodes left and right (are you using my
Fall TV calendar to keep track?). Up tonight: the CBS comedy block, which includes newcomer
Worst Week and the delightful
How I Met Your Mother.
A brief note about Worst Week: I
didn't like the pilot very much, mostly because I found the main character unsympathetic and the pratfalls predictable.

After
taking the podium, the winners and presenters headed back to the press area to pose with their statues and field all sorts of interviews. Buzz and I were lucky enough to be back in the Press Room during last night's
Emmys to catch the victorious in all their glory. Buzz has
some of the best highlights from Mad Men, 30 Rock, Colbert, Stewart and more.

Oprah wowed in red as she opened the show after the cool What's my line? clip but unfortunately following her was the
reality hosts talking about nothing. It was almost as uncomfortable as watching Ricky Gervais ask for his Emmy back from Steve Carell.

The men left all the color to the
ladies on the red carpet at the
Emmys last night, keeping it tame in their dapper suits and tuxes. True to form, the
Entourage boys walked and posed together, while Jeremy Piven and John Krasinski held their own with their hands in their pockets. Diddy hammed it up as usual, and Patrick Dempsey, Jon Hamm, and Neil Patrick Harris added just a little more dreaminess to the equation.

We've seen a lot of
great preview clips for returning shows that will soon be back on the air to tie up last season's cliffhangers. But where's
How I Met Your Mother? The CBS comedy finished strong last Spring, aided by a couple of guest appearances by Britney Spears, a great plotline involving Sarah Chalke as a candidate for "the mother," and a
cliffhanger that's had me waiting all Summer for an answer.

One week before next weekend's
Primetime Emmy Awards lots of stars of the small screen came out in LA on Saturday for the presentation of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The show airs Saturday and was hosted by two of my favorites, Sarah Chalke and Neil Patrick Harris, who kept the laughs coming. As expected,
Mad Men and
John Adams both took home multiple statues —
