The dog days of Summer are upon us, and August is an exciting month this year. Not only is it a time for Summer vacations, but both the Beijing Olympics and Slow Food Nation are happening. Here's my list of everything you need to survive (and celebrate!) August in the most fabulous foodie style.

The Virgin Suicides costars Josh Hartnett and Kirsten Dunst reunited on the red carpet last night for a screening of Josh's new movie, August, in NYC last night. The duo laughed it up with Susan Sarandon at the after party. Even despite his still kinda scraggly facial hair, Josh Hartnett managed to look cute on the red carpet with Kirsten.

What a dilemma!
Josh Hartnett seems to vary in hotness between a brooding Hollywood hunk and a greasy regular guy – and in this photo he certainly seems to be channeling the latter.

Remember in the '90s when the World Wide Web was tied to really lofty ideals? This movie does. Josh Hartnett plays a dot-com entrepreneur who, in one scene from the trailer of August insists that this new phenomenon will increase freedom and choice.

If I was pitched a movie about the dot-com bubble bursting and the rise and fall of a start-up, I'd be Fandango-ing already — but then, again, I was the girl who loved Pirates of Silicon Valley. Hollywood execs know that nongeeks need to be drawn to see their movies, too, so they add sex and flash — which they did here with the upcoming film August. And it works!

It's a busy month for travelers, but ever since I was a kid, August has also been one of my favorite months to spend at home. There's just something about the days getting shorter that makes me want to lounge about and make the most of the remaining warm days. So for my must haves this month, I'm eyeing home finds that will let me enjoy a few more outdoor evenings and get excited to move back inside.
