I'd have to add Sideways to this list. The movie is one of my favorites and the novel was disappointing.

Because the books are 10x better, more layered and complex, even though the movies are good as well

Haha, what a great idea Buzz! I enjoy reading soo much, but I feel ilke people who say, "the books are ALWAYS better than the movies," are just trying to sound smart and well-read.

Also:
Anything by Nicholas Sparks. While man of his movies are also a little cheezy, omg I read Message in Bottle, and it was...painful, awful, oh god. I didn't see that movie, but I thought the Notebook was great. Sometimes, really earnest plots and cheezy story lines can only be good as movies!
