Would You Care About the Golden Globes If They Weren't Televised?

We'll probably learn more tomorrow about whether or not the Golden Globes will be televised, but Variety is already speculating that the ceremony will not be broadcast, citing industry sources who claim NBC is now leaning toward not televising the event and instead holding "the Globes as a private party at the Beverly Hilton — with hopes that the full complement stars would attend."

If the Globes aren't televised and there is merely the private party, will you be bummed to miss the event and the red carpet shenanigans? Or is the actual distribution of the awards all that matters?

I might like to know who wins, but I don't care if I watch. Frankly I'm tired of watching celebrities constantly pat themselves on the back.

No; I love the speeches and the gowns - it also shows the trends for hair and makeup.

I just like to see who wins for the major categories. I don't watch otherwise, except sometimes celebrities will bring their significant others to the red carpet and that can be interesting sometimes. I know I can see all the gowns online the next day or in a tabloid, so I don't bother watching.

Booo I wouldn't care if it wasn't televised, granted all the award shows get kinda boring, but I would definately want to watch. Plus, it would be bland just to know who wins, I could care less about who wins since I already made up my mind about their movies.

I'm with Brendelwoman...I think the ceremony is all about actors parading around glorifying their status as A-listers. In a celebrity-obsessed culture, I'm fed up with it.

As far as awards go, I only care about the Oscars, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the MTV Movie Awards. (Hey, at least MTV camps up their awards!)

If it's aired, I won't watch. Why would anyone watch? No actors will be there, and most directors won't be there, no writers will be there... Not only that, I wouldn't want to give them any ratings, they're vultures. If they do go the untelevised route, not only would I have a lot more respect for them, but I would be happy to watch all their future broadcasts (which I usually don't do)

I wanna know who wins, because it does have a slight indication on who wins the Academy Awards. But in recent years this trend seems to have subsided.

I mostly care about who wins but I'll admit that I'd be very disappointed to miss out on watching the red carpet.

I love the red carpet, but ther winners do give me an idea of what movies I should check out before the academy awards and the rest of the awards shows. It's also fun to see a drunk speech or two...

i don't really know. i don't usually watch the whole thing - but i think that it would be upsetting to not see the red carpet and the winners for the last few awards....

I'll probably watch just out of curiosity; I typically don't watch award shows from start to finish anyway, so I guess I'm more interested in knowing who wins than watching them accept the awards.

It's not like the list of winners won't be in newspapers, online, and probably right here! If it is televised, I won't be watching...I normally don't watch the Globes anyway, just the Oscars, but the lack of SAG actors will make it unwatchable. Plus will there even be the same old usually unfunny presenter and host banter because there's no writers? Make it a private party...the ratings are going to be in the toilet, and we'll find out who won what anyway.

i never watch them, they're too boring. and now i would watch it first because of my solidarity with writers, and seconds because it's still effing boring.

This year I'm actually interested in who wins, as I've really liked a lot of the movies in contention. I really care about who wins, but the speeches and fashion are just plusses.

I watch award shows to see my favourite stars and maybe an awesome candid moment. But anymore, I find the time spent just isn't worth those moments, because they are too far and few between.
Sometimes its interesting to see who wins, but it doesn't influence if I watch something or not so whatever. Smiling
That said, out of all the shows, I think the Globes is the most fun.

I don't even care about the speeches -dresses, jewelry, hair and make-up are the important things!
