Great idea, Buzz. I love to know what others are reading, especially since I vow to read more this year.

The thing that sucks, is that many of the big companies that are apart of the Producing half of the strike also own publishing companies. So even if you don't watch their tv shows, if you go buy their books you are still hurting the WGA and supporting the Producers.

The library might be a good option, perhaps?

I loved The other Boleyn girl and The time traveler's wife. I read a bunch as it is so even without the writers strike I think this is a great idea.

I also recommend "The Other Boleyn Girl" and there will soon be a new movie out based on this book. It is starring two fav's of mine - Natalie Portman as Anne Boleyn and Scarlett Johanson as Mary Boleyn. Eric Bana will be King Henry VIII. The book is awesome and I can't wait to see it played out on the big screen in Feb. Check it out!!!

I agree with the Time Traveler's Wife, and along the new movie theme is also My Sister's Keeper. Another good one to check out is The Memory Keeper's Daughter.

The Red Tent is a really good book.

Joanne Harris, Jigs and Wheels a colection of short stories, I LOVE IT!!! actully anything by he is amazing.

The Secret Life of Bees and TTW were great books! Eat Pray Love is on my TBR list. Also have The Red Tent on my shelf patiently waiting for me.

Pinkerton - me too! Actually, I'd say I read it about twice a year. I'm not particularly religious, but this book really grabs me. LOVE it. Every woman should read The Red Tent!

good idea. i am just starting to read "the namesake" and "the yaucobian building" but whether or not they are book-club worthy, i have no idea.

Eat Pray Love is a great choice. I'm finishing it up tomorrow. Haven't been able to put it down. I got a lot of recommendations for Pillars of the Earth so that's coming up for me in a day or so. I've heard it's wonderful and supposed to have lots to discuss.

Pillars of the Earth is probably the best book I have ever read! Other great books that I recently finished are The Other Boleyn Girl, The Kite Runner, and East of Eden (by Steinbeck).
