Would You Want to See a Sequel to I Am Legend?

The rumor mill is working overtime with folks chattering about a sequel to the recent box office smash hit I Am Legend. Apparently, the author of the book on which the movie is based, Richard Matheson sold the sequel rights to Warner Bros., so the studio is clearly interested in producing a second film.

No word on castings, however, and it's possible Will Smith wouldn't be involved. Would a sequel be as good without the first movie's star? What do you think?

Maybe. It would be interesting to see how they dealt with administering the vaccine to the people who were infected. I would definitely need to see a trailer first.

I didn't really think the movie was all that great, but the ending allowed for a sequel...how many survived, what happened to the infected, the rebuilding of the survivors' lives. I'd see it because it would be more than Will and the infected.

I did not buy him as a 52 year old either...

Maybe, if it's done well. I guess I'd need to see a trailer first.

It isn't really possible seeing as how there isn't a sequel to the book that the movie was based on. Although the movie wasn't even close to being an accurate representation, so i guess they could make up a sequel no problem.

I didn't find the movie bad. It just wasn't the book. I know...it was based more on Omega Man. But I'd rather have a faithful adaptation of the book than a sequel to this. Plus, it was bad to have the bad guys be CGI. It just wasn't necessary. It's not like they had tentacles or transformed into trucks.

The movie wasn't good, but it was entertaining, and it still really tickles me when Will Smith plays dramatic roles. I think he's talented, so if he were in a sequel, I'd probably just see it to keep up to date on my Will Smith films!

If Will Smith is in it yes!

I think they could tighten up the story line and continue it without using the book.

I found the premise entertaining, though the plot was weak, and Will is a good actor who could really carry it.

A good sequel would be one that looked back retrospectively and detailed all the events leading up the I Am Legend Movie.

A good sequel would be one that carried the story further into different territory, not one that looked back. Why would you want to see a sequel that rehashed everything that already happened, or everything that led up to what happened in I Am Legend? That's all backstory. it would be more like a prequel, which I think would be boring. I'd be much more interested in a sequel that started with the "colony" and getting the cure to the Infected somehow.

Maybe but it would not be the same without Will involved. I just saw I Am Legend today and I LOVED it.

I just saw it in IMAX and didn't think the CGI was as bad as people were saying. It may have just looked better in IMAX though.

if will is signed up for it, sure why not....but if the sequel is continuing from the ending, then that means will won't be in it unless they'll do flashbacks with will in it.

For the record, this movie is not based on the movie "Omega Man." Both movies (as well as "Last Man on Earth" (1964)) are based on a 1954 novella called "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson.

The novel is set in Los Angeles, the movie takes place in New York City. The main character in the novel appears as a villain to the still living individuals left in the area, and the contact with the woman is much, much different (she's sent in as a spy from the still living infected rather than someone "just passing through.")

In the book, his death is definitely not honorable and one of sacrifice.

I don't understand how they're planning on taking a movie that departs in the most important plot devices from the work upon which it's based and make a sequel.

I was so disappointed to see the recent "Cheaper by the Dozen" movie and its sequel. It's just proof to me that some people don't care a bit about original literature, and will turn it into whatever they think will sell the most tickets at the box office at the total expense of the original story. That is why I don't see many movies, or watch much scripted television.

maybe - there are SO many unanswered questions from the first one that if they were able to elaborate on them - then i would go see it. i don't know how good it would be though cause will smith was THE BEST choice in my eyes for that role.

I really liked I am Legend, but I still voted NO. They need to learn to leave things well-enough alone sometimes!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Because I'd only watch if Will Smith was in it because he made the movie for me.

I like my idea actually, but thanks for the critique. Eye-wink

only if they made sure it was good. this movie was kind of pointless, u kill Will Smith and its like you watched the whole thing for nothing. It wasn't very good, but if they could make a better sequel go for it! I'd see it, but gee......i just couldnt get into this movie. I Am Loser, more like. And poooor Sam! Dies....wut the...you know?
