For the second lucrative weekend in a row, the National Treasure sequel Book of Secrets has taken the box office crown, raking in $35.6 million. Edging out I Am Legend for second place was Alvin and the Chipmunks, which brought in $29 million. Legend's $27 million brought it to No. 3 with Charlie Wilson's War taking in way less ($11 million) but still grabbing fourth place.

Happily, the little indie movie that could, Juno, made the list of top five movies at the box office over this final weekend of 2007! Variety points out that Juno, which took in $10 million its fourth weekend in theaters, "was up a whopping 201% from the previous weekend," and both weekends the movie played in 998 theaters. That is an awesome success, homeskillet.

Juno is brilliant and Charlie Wilson's War is quite good; highly recommend both!

I hated National Treasure! The story line was so thin and not the least bit believeable. Nic Cage is so monotone and was such a crappy actor in this. His fake teeth and hair plugs were so distracting as well. I couldn't wait for it to end.

I agree hotstuff, I kept hoping Nic Cage's character would die and only Riley would be left.

I saw Juno last weekend, it was truly wonderful. The kids used a little too much slang at first which bothered me, but I was won over by the heartfelt and original storyline.

Can't wait to see Juno! It was only in 340 some odd theaters two weeks ago not 1,019. It increased to 998 Christmas Day and then 1,019 on Friday. It was at 700 more theaters so that's the reason the box office results went up 200%. It's doing great and could be in the top 2 if it keeps up this weekend since it'll be in almost 2,000 theaters. Maybe I'll FINALLY get to see it.

National Treasure was much better than I expected. Sequels normally stink, but this one was entertaining even if it was far fetched. CWW was also good.
