First Look: How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

While I love pretty much anything Simon Pegg does or says, and I seriously cannot wait for the Spring US release of Run, Fat Boy, Run, the teaser trailer for his next comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People leaves much to be desired. Based on Toby Young's 2003 memoir, the movie's plot description is this:

Sidney Young is a disillusioned intellectual who both adores and despises the world of celebrity, fame, and glamour. His alternative magazine, Post Modern Review, pokes fun at the media-obsessed stars and bucks trends, so when Young is offered a job at the conservative, New York-based Sharps magazine, it's something of a shock! Thus begins Sidney's descent into success — his gradual move from derided outsider to confidante of starlet Sophie Maes (Megan Fox) — and a love affair with colleague Alison Olsen (Kirsten Dunst) that will either make him or break him.

I look forward to a full trailer for the movie since this little 45-second one is pretty unsatisfying. To see the trailer for yourself and share your thoughts, read more

I read this book and it was hilarious. But just from the description the movie doesn't seem like it will be quite as witty.Leave it to Hollywood to drain the genius out of something. Also please hurry Run Fat Boy Run I can't last without Simon Pegg

I think the teaser looks kind of funny. At this point I am not sure if I would see it in the theater but I would totally rent it.

I need to see a longer trailer as well. I WANT to love it, along with everything else Simon Pegg does. However, this looks a bit crap to me. And the Run Fat Boy Run looks iffy too. But I'll still go see it anyway.

I think the movie could be good-- that looks like one of the mass-market trailers studios make to attempt to interest as many people as possible.

I'm not sure, the trailer wasn't really that funny. I mean I'm sure it'll have funny moments, Simon's in it, but still...

I am torn. I love Simon Pegg with every fiber of my being, but the trailer didn't get me very interested. Plus, I really really hate Kirsten Dunst.

I would probably rent this one, what I am really holding out for is Run, Fatboy, Run. I hate when release dates are bumped!!!

I suggest that Pegg fans get their fix by watching his old show Spaced- it's great!!!

Simon Pegg is really good, but not worth $10. Methinks I'll be hiring this DVD when it hits shelves.
