Should Leno or Conan Host The Tonight Show?

The groundwork has been in place for years for Conan O'Brien to take over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno in 2009. But now there's a new twist to the story: Leno doesn't want to leave. Some in the industry are also wondering if Conan's irreverent humor will work in an earlier time slot. Which comedian do you think is more fit to host The Tonight Show?

I love them both in different ways. I think Conan's humor is so "out there." I love his sense of humor, I think he's hilarious and self-deprecating and relatable, so I think he'll be a great on The Tonight Show. I also think Jay Leno is a great guy. Much funnier and less offensive than Latterman. His Headline's segment is the best thing on late night TV! But, I think Jay should leave in 2009 as planned and let Conan take center stage.

Often it's better to leave when you feel you're at your best. Leno might be wise to go leave as planned. Conan will be great.

I like Jimmy Kimmel better than both shows these days. Jimmy has better musical guests. But, between Conan and Jay, I'd pick Conan.

I love them both where they are right now. If Leno wants to stay, I'd love to continue watching him on The Tonight Show, but I'll be ready for Conan when he takes the stage, whether it's in 2009 or later.

I voted Other, because I don't think either of them should.
I've never enjoyed Jay Leno, he's just too bland and "nice", he never asks the really interesting questions.
Although I like Conan, I think he should not try and take over Lenos place, it will suck any edge Conan has right away.

I cannot stand Leno and his ass kissing style.. it makes me insane.. esp knowing how he screwed Letterman out of the job in the first place. Now he is going to screw over Conan???

Kick his ass to the curb PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Conan is way cooler than Leno. Who else could pull off a masturbating bear and the FedEx Pope??? Smiling

The only thing i'm worried about is that they'll try and censor Conan to being "softer" like Jay. Please let Conan be Conan!

It doesn't really matter to me since I Tivo Conan anyway and go to sleep earlier than either show comes on!

But I agree that I'm a bit scared that Conan may lose his edge in closer to primetime.....

Up until recently Letterman wasn't on in the UK, even now they're weeks behind. Leno and Conan are on a few days behind and at different times. Personally I get Conan and Letterman off the net so it doesn't really matter to me. As long as Conan doesn't get worse being on earlier I don't much care.

Leno is such a butt kisser. That's why I love Letterman for his loopy and devil-may-care humor.

I think Conan would be great on the Tonight Show, but if Conan and Dave went head-to-head, I'd be torn between them because Conan has such an innocent goofball kind of humor.

Leno appears so scripted! I don't watch him at all. I will watch Letterman from time to time--his timing is better. I would give Conan a chance---what I have seen him in I like.

I think they're both great in the shows they have now....mixing it up would mess it up, in my opinion.

I miss Craig Kilborn! But between Jay and Conan, I love Conan! Jay irks me, I watch Letterman instead.

While I abhor Leno (I don't think I've ever laughed at one of his jokes, and he is a horrible interviewer IMO), I don't want Conan to take the earlier time slot. He is great where he is (he's kept me watching ever since I was in 7th grade...I still can't get to bed early!) and I don't want his show to change.
