TV Tonight: "Pushing Daisies"

A couple of my favorite shows this year — "Chuck" and "Reaper," most notably — have already fallen prey to the Curse of the Second Episode, where the second installment of a show can't quite match the energy and excitement of the pilot. Here's hoping that doesn't happen with "Pushing Daisies" tonight. Last week's pie-lette was so adorable that I'd hate to see tonight's second episode be anything short of brilliant.

The story has Chuck officially joining Ned and Emerson's investigative team as they search out the truth behind a sketchy-seeming hit-and-run that killed an automotive expert. Meanwhile, Chuck still has quite a few questions for Ned about how he brought her back to life. From the pictures and previews I've seen, it seems like the whimsy of the first episode is definitely still present. To watch a preview, just read more

I watched this online a few days ago and loved it. I'm not going to be able to watch it on Wednesday nights but I'll definitely watch it online every week.

I have not been able to get the pie-lette out of my head since last Wednesday...I've even watched it online twice! I'm completely in love...with everything. With Lee Pace, Chi McBride (whom I've always been a big fan of anyway), with the scenery, the colors, the music, the narrator. All of it. I'm just in love!

I accidentally turned to the channel last week and caught the very beginning of it and was hooked! It's such a good show. Very different from any other show and almost like a fairy tale. I already added it to my DVR scheduled to record shows Smiling

I hope it doesn't get cancelled. I used to love Dead Like Me and Rome and they cancelled both of them. It always seems like the good shows get cancelled. Sad

Who is the actress who plays Chuck and why does she look so familiar? I knew that I would like this show because I loved Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me. What surprised me is how much my husband likes this show. He really likes the unusual, Quentin Tarantino-like (albeit clean and non-violent) dialogue.

cageyme — the actress is Anna Friel. She's British and has done a lot of theater work, including the Broadway version of "Closer."

I watched this show last week and thought it was great and then tonight I found myself strangely irritated.....it just seemed so over the top...but then again maybe that's what they were going for...
