TV Tonight: "Pushing Daisies"

Yes, I know this is my second "Pushing Daisies" post of the day — did you read my interview with Lee Pace yet? — but bear with me. After all, it's not every day that my favorite new show of the season makes its debut.

Besides, I've been waiting since July to find out what you guys make of "Pushing Daisies," ABC's "forensic fairytale" about a pie maker who can bring people back to life with a single touch. I adored the show's first episode; I also realize it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. The show is thoroughly precious — I mean, they're calling the pilot episode a "Pie-lette," for heaven's sake — and I found the whimsy, the saturated landscape and the clever dialogue endearing. Others, though, might call those same things over-the-top and annoying. More than any other show this season, its success or failure could come down to a simple matter of taste.

Even if you're not sure "Pushing Daisies" will be for you, I urge you to check out tonight's first episode. It's gorgeous to look at, if nothing else, and Lee Pace and his co-star Anna Friel just might win your heart. To watch a preview, read more

it looks like something to check out. The commercials don't reveal much beyond the fact that he brings people to life to get the murder rewards, and then kills them again. It looks like it could be uber cute with a nice story line, or something that should have been a made for tv movie and nothing more.

I heard a little blurb about it on NPR yesterday on my way home. I loved the main conflict - does he or doesn't he bring his true love back to life? If he does, he can never touch her again. I'll definitely be watching!

I liked it... I'm not sure if it won't get old though. We'll have to see. But I liked the fantasy of it. And the sets and costumes are fantastic.

I love Jim Dale - see my previous post on the previous Pushing Dasies post of the day, lol. But I am not sure if his narration isn't a little too blatent at times.(More the fault of the writing).

I mean - I think we could see that when Ned was clasping his hands behind his back, so was Chuck - it didn't need to be spelled out.

But that is my only nitpicky thing.

All in all, very promising. I can't wait to see how it progresses.

I was skeptical, but I loved this!! My dvr got weird halfway through though, so I missed the second half, which was annoying. But they are re-showing it on Friday night, at least our ABC affiliate here in Portland is, so if you missed it, you might check on that.

The show reminded me of a quirky Dr. Seuss type story Smiling I loved Dead Like Me, so I'm going to stay loyal... but only if I can watch it recorded, because there were WAAAYYY too many commercial breaks.

Loved it! One of my new favorite shows. So excited. I hope everyone else loves it too, I want it to last forever.
I wish Kristen Chenoweth had more scenes in this episode but there will be future ones that will feature her cuteness.

I was sort of skeptical of this show when I first heard about it a few months back, but I decided to TiVo it and speed through all the commercials--SO GOOD. Next to The Office, my 2nd favorite show.

And Ned--pretty cute in a really different way Smiling

Buzz, are you going to have a episode rundown of this?
