Box Office: Four Christmases Wins the Holiday Weekend

I was surprised at how much I ended up enjoying Four Christmases starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, and maybe some of the early buzz from others who also liked it helped the holiday comedy win the Thanksgiving weekend box office this year with an estimated $46.7 million since opening Wednesday.

Meanwhile the highly anticipated Baz Luhrmann epic Australia opened at No. 5 after Quantum of Solace in fourth place, Twilight (which passed the $100 million mark this weekend) in third, and Bolt in second place. Gus Van Sant's biopic Milk also did very well for a limited release, coming in at No. 10 over the weekend.

So wishing that Milk had opened locally; this is the one film that I really want to see.

I saw this. It wasn't as awful as my husband kept telling me it would be, but I didn't love it.

I loved it...think everyone should check it out...be on the lookout for actors you wouldn't expect to be in the film. Laughed until I cried in some parts.

I cannot WAIT to see this movie! I LOVE Reese. I wish she had a different co-star because I don't like VV at ALL, but I'll deal with him to get her.

I have absolutely no interest at all in this movie for some reason and my husband threated me with my life when I suggested this (with follow ups of Australia and Twilight which garnered more dirty looks and mumbled threats) over the holiday. So we checked out Eagle Eye and Quantum of Solace instead and both loved them.. manbeast makes the best Bond.

When the credits for QoS rolled I wanted to run across the seat backs down a few levels and then vault over the stair railing landing safely on other movie patrons trying to leave, wanted to kick open the theater doors, tackle a floor sweeper, beat someone up in the bathroom and crash through the front windows to steal the nearest Maserati driving through the parking lot.

Alas I didn't.. but wanted to. And I don't have a violent bone in my body. Bond gets to have all the fun. Sad

Was Australia limited release? Why did it bomb, it was everywhere! I thought it would be at the least number 3.

I'm so happy at how well MILK did!!! But I'm so sick of hearing from unintelligent people that it "bombed." Tenth is incredible with just 36 screens; that's more than $50,000 per theatre over 5 days!
