Have the Emmys Ever Made You Start Watching a Show?

At this year's Emmys, the shows that got many of the biggest awards aren't exactly winners in the ratings. Taken all together, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, In Treatment, and Damages would probably pull in only about five to six million viewers per week!

Maybe that will change now, though, as the awards bring the shows more recognition and exposure. It makes me wonder: Have you ever started watching a series because it won an Emmy?

they actually HAVE made me start watching a show - i never paid attention to mad men or 30 rock before and once i saw the acclaim that they were both getting i started to try to watch them when they are on TV. i can't say that they are on the top of my MUST SEE list but they are shows that i wouldn't have watched otherwise i don't think.

I haven't paid much attention to 30 Rock, even though it receives such acclaim; I plan to watch now.

I've watched 30 Rock and I starting watching Mad Men during the first season just because I ended up on the channel one day while it was airing and I kept watching after that. The Emmys never have anything to do with what I watch. If I hear of a show and it interests me, I'll check it out. If it doesn't, I'll probably not be likely to bother.

I started watching Mad Men after hearing good buzz about it when the Emmy nominations were announced. I watched the first season in 2 weeks and now watch the new episodes as the play on Sunday nights. I LOVE this show and am so happy that I started watching! Smiling

Actually it was the Golden Globes that made me start watching the UK version of The Office. My sister & I were watching Ricky Gervais give his acceptance speech for his first win and we thought OMG this guy is HILARIOUS!!! We loved his humour and knew right away that we "got" him. We rented the DVDs as soon as they were available and now it (and the US version) is in the top 10 of my all-time fav shows! =)

No way. If anything I'd stop watching shows that won an Emmy. The people who pick the good shows generally have bad taste. They give awards to bad shows and the great shows never see awards because they don't fit the mold. The Emmy people are just people who make bad choices and everyone just thinks they know best. Okay end of bitter rant

Maybe Mad Men... I didn't really know much about it before the Emmy nominations.
That being said I don't know when it's on and can't be bothered to go searching for it so I'll only watch it if I stumble across it.

I have never watched 30 Rock or Mad Men, but I plan to now. I need to catch up on older episodes first though.

I started watching Arrested Development a few years ago after it won an Emmy.
