Do You Want to See Tom Cruise in More Action Roles?

Today there's news of the spy movie Edwin A. Salt, purportedly starring Tom Cruise, which may get Phillip Noyce (Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games) on board to direct. In the story, Cruise would play "a CIA officer who's accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. He must elude capture long enough to clear his name." It's not necessarily going to be an action film, but it does sound similar to something Jack Ryan-ish or Jason Bourne-y, and I personally don't know if I could take Cruise all that seriously as an action star at this point. Then again, maybe he's still got it. Do you want to see Cruise in any more action movies?

To be honest, I really don't want to see him in any role anymore. I've not liked any of his movies for ages now.

I was never a fan, but after his postpartum depression comments I began to loathe him. I won't watch his movies.

Well, I boycott his films. He was annoying before but now with this whole attitude and scientology circus I can't stand him.

I was never really a fan, but would have still gone to see the films if they had good reviews. Now, he would turn me off going to a film.

because he is a terrible actor, and i don't think you need to be very good in an action role - i think this is pretty okay for him. mind you, i really think matt damon is a good actor and loved the Bourne movies!

He has totally sabotaged his credibility with me through his outlandish and absurd acts, so I won't be paying any money to support the guy in any capacity--action or otherwise.

I would love to see him any movie. The thing I like best about Mr. Cruise is that he doesn't just star in movies, he puts movies together. He invites other actors and he brings everybody up! Just look at all the fantastic people he has in his movies. One of my favorite actors is Mark Ruffalo. Oh my gawd....did you see him in "Collateral"? He is so fine!!! Um...

I wish he would invite me to one of his parties. I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I still Love him and would watch him in any role. one of the most talented actors we have, if his religion wasnt part of the equation and his beliefs, most people would agree with me.

I agree with bellaressa in that I like to separate his private life and his professional career. I would LOVE to see him in a convincing role like in Magnolia! Not only is it one of my favorite movies, but his performance is absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and he was robbed of any award he was nominated to.

GO TOM GO. Tom's 3 films made it on EW's Classic films of all time in Hollywood. The only actor who has 3 films honored. The only actor who has a national holiday in Japan and still no.1 bankable actor according to Vanity Fair and Esquire.

This actor deserves the Oscar already and he is one versatile actor.
I know he will win the Academy at some point and those that mock him will eat their words. (in your face moment and adding fuel because till this day all rumors on him and his family are always unfounded).

Edward Salt is a true story and its very compelling. The CIA and KGB will be after him because both parties think they were betrayed and the rest is a must see in the theatres for intelligent people not viewers of Sex and the City or Jerry Springer.

Action hero Tom works for me. Love for him to be in a superhero movie or even a dramedy like Jerry Maguire and he's the best as a villain like Interview with a Vampire and Collateral.

I saw the video that apma mentions. In Cruise-Scientology parlance, we non-Scientologists are called SPs, which means Suppressive Persons. I no longer see his movies.
