Straight-to-DVD Preview: The Lost Boys Sequel

Once upon a time, the sensational teen duo known as "the Cories" were hot young Hollywood talents. Over the years, though, neither of them have had much of a career, whatever celebrity sparkle they once possessed dulled by both obscurity and stints on reality television.

Given this, you can kind of see why both Corey Feldman and Corey Haim would feel compelled to reprise their roles in the quintessential cult vampire flick of the '80s The Lost Boys in the straight-to-DVD sequel, Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. I just wish they'd directed this need to become relevant again into something else.

In an interview with MTV News, Corey Feldman describes this next installment as the first film "on steroids," by which he means there is "more gore, there's more nudity, which there definitely wasn't in the first film." Ugh. As a fan of the original, I don't understand why the Cories feel the need to ruin my memories with this ridiculousness. To check out the trailer for the DVD, read more.

So, wait. Is Corey Haim really in this? Because the Wiki page says that he was supposed to be involved, but then he dropped out but now he's back? Or something?

At any rate, he's not in the trailer. And I guess it doesn't really matter because I won't be seeing this travesty anyway. Except that my boyfriend will probably want to rent it on Netflix eventually.

I love the Lost Boys and this is a travesty! Sometimes they should just let it die! Buzz, I will read your review but don't think I will be able to watch it without crying!

As long as Alex Winter was smart enough to stay away, I'm fine with it. Oh, wait. They killed him first in the last one.

Oh, Team, I won't be reviewing this abomination! I don't think I can put myself through it. Sad

I've heard about this forever. Haim was really pushing Feldman to do it but Feldman didn't want anything to do with it at all. But here in the trailer all I see is Feldman and no Haim??? This is one of those movies that just really should never have a sequel. At least my man Kiefer stayed far FAR away from it! I hear a remake of the same song in the background too... Sigh

Ugh...one of my very favorite teen movies (back when I was IN LOVE with Corey Haim...the way I like to remember him so I try to stay away from news stories and pictures of him today, it breaks my heart and taints my memories). I can't believe they've done this...I'm so sad...I feel like like it's not respectful of the original and killing it's cult status. Anything to make a dollar...

I loved the Lost Boy's movie! I can't really imagine a sequel, it doesn't make sense. I will check it out just to see what they have done to this movie. Some movies just should not be made into a sequel and this is one of them!

Buzz, you are absolutely right this is an abomination!

Haim is listed second in the cast on the IMDB page for this ridiculously unnecessary sequel. The original was (and still is) one of my favorite movies of all time. So sad that so many people in Hollywood are so uncreative they can't come up with something original to make a movie about. Sigh.

Listen, its a straight to DVD hunk of junk, so i dont mind it. I was a huge obsessive maniac over the first one, I had the soundtrack (and yes I did hear some emo-craptastic remake of Cry little sister on that preview that I will quickly forget this instant) I had the posters and I had the whole darn thing memorized through countless nights of rewinding and drooling over Keifer. Sequels like this are bound to happen, and people are bound to watch them…and by “people” I mean the “hot topic trailer park Goths” that roam the mall and who wouldn’t know real angst or art if it walked up to them and offered them a free tattoo of jack skellington, which they would take in an instant because that’s soooooooo them.

The coreys have nothing else to do really but to sit around Feldmans pool and stare down at their residual checks from 1986 and trim their 90’s goatees and think “is this it?”

Didn't one of them date Victoria Beckham in the 90's? I read that somewhere and the thought of it made me laugh Laughing out loud
As for this - its sad, I loved the first one
