Johnny, Jude and Colin Take Over Ledger's Last Role

This weekend some bittersweet film news hit the wire regarding the last movie Heath Ledger was working on before he tragically died January 22. The film is Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, and rather than ceasing production altogether on the film, three actors will step into Ledger's role as "Tony" in the film: Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell.

Variety writes that in the fantasy film, "Ledger's character steps into three different dimensions, each transporting him into a new world; worlds which will now be inhabitated by Depp, Law, and Farrell."

Good for these guys for stepping up to the plate and taking on such a challenging and delicate task. I'm curious about this whimsical film and I look forward to seeing what these three can do with the part. I hope they can do justice to Heath's last role.

This is nothing but cool! If they are playing the same character at different times throughout the film, then most likely they will not be shown on the screen at the same time during the film...which is a good thing, or the screen would melt from all the hotness! I'm looking forward to seeing this.

That is really cool - gave me goosebumps for some reason - perhaps because Depp will be partaking in it. Love him. Good move.

It sounds like this project has become all the more special. It's nice that it's going to be resurrected by three worthy actors.

I hope they have enough footage of heath to have him do final scenes. I am interested to see how they pull this off. I am pleased that Gilliam is moving forward and found a way to keep Heath in the film....I understand that the subject matter lends itself to this sort of fantasy anyway. Kudos to the 3 actors taking on this unique tribute type role. I am interested to see as well if they will try to make it their own or take on some of the mannerisms Heath brought to the role. I am especially excited about Johnny, as well. I hope they do this well and take their time.

It's so damn brilliant... What a great idea, especially considering its Terry Gilliam, a man with many ideas and universes, he can totally turn this movie into something wonderful, and also a great hommage to our dear Heath Ledger(God, I do miss him, how insane is that, has to be the Brokeback Mountain effect...).
All three actors are insanely talented free spirits, just like Heath was(Johnny Depp for sure, Jude Law who never seems to do what people expect of him, and Colin Farrell, who deserves more credit than he's given(see "Cassandra's dream" and "In Bruges")).
A great great cinema project. I can't wait to see it!

I'm glad to hear that the movie is still continuing on. Changing bodies when stepping through dimensions is a clever way of going about it.

Despite the sad reason behind it, I think this will actually make the movie even more interesting, and maybe better. It sounds like a very intriguing idea - a little bit like the Ledger/Blanchett Dylan film. I'm not so sure about the choice of Colin Farrell, as I wrote him off long ago, but I may just give him another chance.

I live in Manhattan and keep hearing that Colin Farrell often stays here either at the Gramercy or the Four Seasons.
Is there any way to know when he's in town? And does anyone know who the woman is he keeps being seen with? I've heard she's a pilot. Does anyone know what airline she flies with?

Wow, this sounds like a great combination of actors. Lots of "Eye Candy" Smiling Can't wait to see this after the disappointment of Law's latest, Sleuth.
